CANTERBURY, ENGLAND, OCT 6: Indian batsman Rahul Dravid, leading run-scorer at this year’s cricket World Cup, will join Kent next season as their overseas player. The county said on Wednesday that Dravid, 26, had signed a one-year contract and replaces Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds.

“The arrival of Rahul Dravid to enhance our batting is a major boost,” said Kent coach John Wright. “Next season sees some of the world’s best spinners in the first division of both the championship and the National league and it is great news to have a batsman of Dravid’s class in the team,” he added.

Kent, fifth in this year’s championship, also announced that Matthew Fleming had been reappointed captain for 2000.
