SURAT, March 9: As many as 47,590 students, including 22,270 from rural areas, from Surat district will take the Secondary School Certificate examination starting from March 15. Another 11,239 students, including 5965 from rural areas, from the district will take the Higher Secondary Examination starting on the same date.

The district administration has decided to implement the action plan drawn up by the state government to ensure peaceful conduct of the examinations.

Addressing a meeting of the district examination committee on Tuesday, District Collector Sangeeta Singh spoke of the State government8217;s resolve to cleanse the education system of its ills and restore credibility to public examinations.

It was the committee8217;s responsibility to ensure that the action plan was followed to the Tee, he said.

Throwing light on important aspects of the plan, District Education Officer Natvarsinh Parmar said to eliminate irrgularities during examination, the students would be asked to carry only fee receipts after thorough inspection at the main gate of the examination centre.

A complaint/suggestion box would be kept at the centre with a view to doing away with the ills facing the system, he said adding the centre authorities would study the complaints/suggestions every evening and act on them.
