CHANDIGARH, Jan 14: A digital database has been created for Bhiwani district by the Haryana State Remote Sensing Application Centre HARSAC. A similar database for Gurgaon district would also be available by April this year.

Created for Computerised Resource Information System, the database has been digitised and integrated under a Geographical Informations System GIS software. The database consists of maps prepared from satellite data, along with details about land use, soil, geomorphology and ground water quality. Other details like rail, road and canal networks, settlements and boundaries of villages have been digitised.

The database was developed under the National Natural Resources Information System which was being established around the satellite based information system with the Department of Space as the nodal agency, informed the Haryana Minister of State for Science and Technology, Bhim Sain Mehat.

Water table fluctuation and meteorological data has also been included in the database to ensure that an integrated view of district resources can be made. Socio-economic data was also being integrated with the database. Director, Science and Technology, Sumita Singh stated that computerised information system would be helpful to district administrators.
