Dhoni gets HC notice over swimming pool at home

Sarkar and others, all residents of Harmu, a water-starved locality in the town said that Dhoni had undertaken the construction of his bunglow and the swimming pool on 5,000 square feet land. The construction work took off only after the RRDA and RMC approved its plan. But Harmu is already water-starved and during summer the residents are compelled to purchase water at a rate varying between Rs 5 and Rs 7 per bhar around 50 litres.

The petitioners fear that once Singh8217;s swimming pool gets ready, it will add up to their woes. 8220;Three borings are planned to suck underground water. The swimming pool will result in the groundwater level to dip further, thereby intensifying the problem, the residents are already facing,8221; the PIL read.

Before filing the PIL, the petitioners had also lodged complaints with the concerned authorities. The RMC and the RRDA8217;s hydrologists had inspected Singh8217;s swimming pool and studied its water-management system before handing out a no-objection certificate.
