MUMBAI, July 7: The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought Boeing Company’s assistance to carry out a `safety audit’ of Jet Airways fleet of Boeing aircraft.

“We have asked them to carry out an audit of the auto throttle system, which is an optional one for the cockpit crew and not mandatory,” DGCA sources said.

“There is no cause for alarm or scare and it is only a safety precaution being taken in view of the incident at Mumbai airport last month when the commander aborted a flight while on the take-off run,” the sources reiterated.

Jet Airways said the `audit’ has not affected flights, and they continue to operate with their fleet of 18 aircraft, while one aircraft is grounded.
