JAN 19: Opening bastman Amit Deshpande’s unbeaten 114 (with sixteen fours) helped Vidarbha reply with a fighting score of 189 for two in their first innings against Rajasthan by close on the second day of the Central Zone Ranji Trophy cricket match at the VCA Stadium here today.

Rajasthan, resuming at the overnight score of 288 for seven, cruised along merrily with Jalani (63) contributing mainly to the team’s 380 all out off 119.4 overs twenty minutes before lunch.

Vineet Saxena (overnight 103 not out) added only 14 runs before being out for 117 while home team skipper Pritam Gandhe took four for 58.

Vidarbha openers 19-year-old Deshpande and Adwait Manohar (30) put on 72 for the first wicket before the latter cast away his wicket to left armer Anoop Dave. Dave soon had the new man Shaliesh Harbade (0) caught with the addition of only two run to the total.

Deshpande, who played handsome shots all around the wicket in company of new man Ranjeet Paradkar (38 not out) shared an undefeated 115 runs stand for third wicket so far.

Brief scores: Rajasthan first innings 380 all out in 9.4 overs (Vineet Saxena 117, R Jalani 63, A Jain 37, Preetam Gandhe 4 for 58, Chandrsekhar Atram 3 for 157).
