Delimitation report in RS

With the report of the Delimitation Commission submitted in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Government will be under pressure to go ahead and issue notification for its implementation. The delimitation work started from June 2004 on the basis of 2001 Census and final notifications in respect of 25 states have already been issued. The work in four NE states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur were delayed because the court has stayed the exercise on account of petitions challenging the legality of the 2001 Census.
