
Cong committee expresses shock at power cuts in AIIMS
The New Delhi District Congress Committee expressed its shock at the state of affairs in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences due to power cuts. In a press statement today, the Committee pointed that the air-conditioning plant of the hospital was shut for three days, paralysing work in the operation theatres. It wanted to know if the Delhi Government would find a solution for the patients.
World8217;s second tallest water-ride opens at Fun 8216;n8217; Food Village
Delhi I Mayor Yog Dhyan Ahuja today opened world8217;s second tallest water ride 8216;The Super Slide8217; at Capital8217;s leading amusement park Fun8217;n8217;Food village. The 48-feet tall slide can carry a family of four on one tube at a time. Speaking on the occasion, Ahuja said there was need for more such facilities in amusement parks.
Company Secretary Foundation course admissions open
Students with matriculation or equivalent examination in arts / commerce / science or any other discipline, excluding fine arts, can pursue the Company Secretary Foundation course. Those seeking registration for the course will be eligible for examination in June 1999. The fee for postal coaching by correspondence is Rs 1,200 . Fifty per cent concession is given for SC/ST candidates. Nature cure camp from June 20
The Indian Academy of Nature Cure and Research Institute will organise a camp from June 20 to June 30 for treatment of asthma, joint pains, cervical problems, arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, hernia, deafness and dumbness, heart problems and obesity. The treatment will be done through acupressure under the guidance of Dr K.K Ojha. The camp will be held at flat number 194, pocket-7, sector-2, Rohini from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
FCI union protest ends
A mass protest of about 1,000 members of Food Corporation of India Employees8217; Union, which started on June 18, concluded today. The main demands of the union included immediate start of wage revision, pending wage settlement payment, introduction of time-bound promotion scheme, pension scheme with medical care scheme after retirement as allowed for banks/LIC, payment of over due ex-gratia and review of vigilance policy.
