FEBRUARY 8: Delhi managed to earn five points by virtue of their 142-run first innings lead as their truncated Group A match against Rajasthan ended in a draw here on Tuesday. Rajasthan got three points.

Resuming at Monday night score of 134 for one, Rajasthan were all out for 311 in reply to Delhi’s first innings score of 453 for nine declared.

The start of last day’s play was delayed by two hours due to heavy fog and bad light and the game started at 11.15 a.m. The first day’s play was called off due to soggy ground conditions.

Delhi medium-pacer Amit Bhandari was the most successful bowler, claiming four wickets for 87 runs. Medium-pacer Robin Singh and spinner Nikhil Chopra took two wickets each.

For the visitors, opener Anshu Jain scored 64 runs (7×4), Rahul Kanwat contributed 52 (6×4) while Krishna Kumar chipped in with 39.

Hyderabad force draw

SAS NAGAR: The Hyderabad-Punjab Group B match ended in a draw with birthday boy Mohammed Azharuddin unbeaten on 63. Hyderabad were 244 for three in their second innings when stumps were drawn for the final time, reports Vikrant Gupta.

Punjab secured five points while Hyderabad had to remain content with three. Punjab now meet Baroda at the same venue from Feb 24-27 while Hyderabad play a home-match against Bihar from Feb 16-19.

Hyderabad openers Nanda Kishore and P Satwalkar put up an 89-run stand before Satwalkar was out. Later, Azhar and Vinay Kumar, who played an attacking knock of 67, mustered up century stand which snuffed whatever hopes Punjab fancied.

Srivastava claims six

ROHTAK: Uttar Pradesh survived three early dismissals and managed to bat out the day to draw their Group C match against Haryana here on Tuesday.

Saurabh Shukla (21) and Mohd Saif ennsured UP did not suffer a collapse in the rain-affected encounter after the hosts were all out for 198 early on the fourth and final day.

Haryana, resuming at the overnight score of 189 for six, were soon bowled out adding just nine runs as Salabh Srivastava (6-82) and Gyanendra Pandey (4-24) bowled marvellously.

Haryana and UP got three points each from the draw.
