AHMEDABAD, April 22: Gandhinagar Additional Judge B.C. Parikh on Wednesday remanded Daxa Shukla in three days police custody for her alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Ruchi Chavda.

The remand was granted following a revision application filed by the state government. Earlier the lower court had turned down the application of the police for further remand of Shukla.

The police contended that Nilesh had stated that Shukla had given him Rs 15,000 to kidnap Ruchi for some religious ceremony. Police prayed that since there was further need to investigate the case, Shukla should be in police custody.

The judge, however, rejected the police application for further remand for Nilesh8217;s father, Bharatsinh Jadeja, and the van driver, Gumansinh Sisodiya. The two will remain in judicial custody.

Shukla8217;s lawyer prayed for time to file a revision petition in Gujarat High Court, but the additional judge turned it down. He ruled out the possibility of approaching high court.

However, the judge granted conditional bail for Kunal, adopted son of Shukla, who said he wanted to appear for the BA examinations of Gujarat University, which began on Thursday. Against a Rs 10,000 bond, Kunal has been freed for 15 days. He will have to present himself at the Sabarmati Central Jail before 11 a.m. on May 1. Kunal has been warned against going anywhere but for sitting the examinations.

Traffic drive: Traffic police on Wednesday recovered fine from 1,883 vehicle drivers for violation traffic rules and also towed away 148 vehicles for causing obstruction to traffic movement.
