
Rich tributes paid to martyrs
Patiala: All Religion Sammelan, organised by the Shaheed Memorial Society in Hira Nagar, paid rich tributes to Kargil martyrs here today. Hymns were recited during the function. Among the political and social leaders who spoke on the occasion were District Congress Committee Urban president Ved Parkash Gupta, DCC Rural president Hardyal Singh Kamboj, Parneet Kaur, wife of Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee secretary K.K. Sharma, and president and general secretary of the Shaheed Memorial Society 8211; Hardev Singh Bhangu and Darshan Singh Ghuman. The society also reiterated the united support of all Indians to the families of Kargil martyrs, because they have laid laid down their lives for the security of the country.
NTAS workshop extended to 40 days
Patiala: The National Theatre Arts Society NTAS has decided to extend its month-long workshop to 40 days. According to a press release, keeping in view the keen interest and devotion of participants of the workshop, S.K. Ahluwalia, director of the North Zone Cultural Centre, has arranged a quot;sanskritik yatraquot; to Shimla of all participants on July 9 and 10. This workshop is being run by the NTAS since June 7 under the guidance of theatre couple Pran Sabharwal and Sunita Sabharwal.

Lecture on health awareness
Patiala: The Dedicated Brothers Group organised a lecture on health awareness at Sunflower Model School yesterday. In his key note address, Dr Parmod Mittal DM Gastroenterology gave informative and useful health awareness talk on prevention and treatment of dysentery. A question-answer session after this. Dr Rakesh Vermi, founder president of the group, also lauded the NGO services, according to Gurbakshish Singh Parmar, press secretary of the group.
PSEB staff holds conference
Patiala: The Punjab State Electricity Board PSEB Electricity Employees8217; Front organised a conference on Wednesday here to consider the working of the board and to deliberate on the long-pending demands of board employees. The leaders of the front took a serious note regarding the poor financial position of the board. According to the convenor ofthe front, Surjit Singh Bhatti, the board had gone into red after the increase into the upper-level posts.
