The figurative muse is that of Brahmin boys. The figures are engulfed with swirls of colour and have a mystical air about them.

Sculpting dreams
Renowned Delhi-based, sculptor, Neeraj Gupta, is visiting the city to showcase his works at the city8217;s popular gallery. Gupta8217;s inspiration comes from nature. He extols the rock patters of stones found near the water8217;s edge, heightens the textures and grain of wood in his work. Working with chisel and hammer, he uncovers figures, abstract forms and sometimes leaves the form as it is working with its natural charm.

Divine metaphor
Harish Kumar, a Faridabad based artist, is showcasing his paintings in an exhibition titled Meacute;lange, at Art Entrance. Harish Kumar8217;s paintings are really a mixture of richness in colours, thoughts, moods, sprit, divine love and tranquility. He uses images of Krishna, Lord Ganesha and Bhuddha in his painting as a metaphor for love, divinity and tranquility respectively. His paintings are not pure abstracts; they are executed in a stylistic figurative mode in which rhythmical line and texture plays major role.

ONE thing that will remain constant during the Prithvi Theatre Festival is their exhibition on Satyadev Dubey, called Theatre ke Anokhe Dubey. This is the third such exhibition on theatre personalities organised by the theatre hub in Juhu. This year8217;s festival celebrates the contribution of Satyadev Dubey8212;his maverick madness, extreme generosity, and relentless work in theatre. The exhibition will be inaugurated on November 6 at 8 pm at Horniman Circle Garden.

Figures of speech
An Exhibition of recent paintings and sculptures by Artist S A Jafar, Pankaj Nigam, Sourabh Mujumdar and Ravindra Tomer, is being hosted at the Nehru Centre. The artists have shown widely and are linked by their common love for figurative works. While Jaffar8217;s surreal works look at the man woman dynamic, Tomar and Mujumdar are inspired by rustic life.
