The government today approved the signing of an agreement to establish a global crop diversity trust by making a one time voluntary contribution of 50,000.

The Union Cabinet which met today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, gave its nod to the establishment of the trust under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food 038; Agriculture ITPGRFA.

The Food and Agriculture Organisation adopted the ITPGRFA in 2001, but came into force in 2004. 8212;PTI
