
Burns death
One Savita Manga Vasava, a 27-year-old woman residing in the Chowk Bazaar area and being treated since Tuesday night for burn injuries, died on Thursday afternoon in the New Civil hospital, the Athwa Lines police said. According to the victim, she was cooking in her house, located near Dakka Owara, when the kerosene stove exploded, causing her severe burn injuries. Vasava was since being treated at the hospital. The police have registered a case under CrPC 174.
Hit and run
One Rajnikant Balwant, a resident of Udhna in the city, died when he was hit by a vehicle late on Wednesday night, the Salabatpura police said. According to the police, the victim, who was riding a scooter GJ 5 K 9061, was hit by a vehicle on the Udhna main road beside Rokadia Hanuman Mandir and died on the spot. The Salabatpura police have registered a case under sections 294 and 304a of the IPC as well as sections 177, 184 and 134 of the Motor Vehicle Act and are investigating. No arrests have however been made in the case.
Chain snatching
An elderly woman was robbed of a gold chain as well as a gold mangalsutra worth Rs 17,000 by an unidentified person in the Gopipura area of the city on Wednesday night, a case registered in the Athwa Lines police station said. According to a complaint lodged by Anjanben Chopra, she was returning from a tailor8217;s shop at around 10 am, when a person emerged out of a rickshaw, near Minerva Auto Consultants in Gopipura, and snatched her chains before escaping. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
