
Woman8217;s suicide
23-year-old Babita Arvind Rai, a married woman residing at Avirbhav Society II in Pandesara area of the city committed suicide by immolating herself on Thursday afternoon. According to police details, Babita was suffering from fits for the past three weeks and was undergoing treatment in Vivek Hospital. Apparently, frustrated with her condition, she poured kerosene and burnt herself at around 2 pm. Married for four years, Rai had no children, police investigations have revealed. A case has been registered under CrPC 174.
Murderer held
The Udhna police declared the arrest of Prafful Abhimanyu Swai, 25, a resident of plot no 4, Udhna, in the Raja Dilip Joshi murder case. Swai was produced before a magistrate on Thursday evening and has been remanded to police custody till September 4. Swai, along with four other migrant labourers chased Raja Joshi with swords and pipes into his house at Udhna and murdered him on August 18 night, beside injuring his mother. One accused had already been nabbed earlier by the police in this connection. Udhna PI B V Rabari is investigating the case.
Woman hurt
Kesi Mohan Solanki, has complained to the that she was attacked with a knife by her relative Mahesh Solanki on Wednesday afternoon. Kesi, a resident in a slum opposite Saiyyedpura Market in Chowk Bazaar area, alleged that Mahesh Solanki, a next-door resident, wanted to borrow Rs 5,000. When Kesi refused to lend the money, Mahesh hit her on the arm with a knife and fled. The Chowk Bazaar police has registered a case under sections of the IPC and BPA.
