
10 people arrested
The City Prevention of Crime Branch PCB arrested 10 people, including six women, on Monday for indulging in immoral activities. According to PCB PI J M Suthar, while three women and three men were arrested from Chakla Bazaar, another two women and a man were arrested from Athwa lines area. Two persons, Munnabhai Jabbarbhai and and Husena Kalu Ghodawala have been declared wanted by the police after the raids, ordered by the city police commissioner to check prostitution in the city.
Bootleggers held
The city PCB on Monday arrested three women bootleggers from the Ambikaniketan Bus Stand, at Parle Point, with 103 litres of country liquor. Those arrested have been identified as Chanda Dayal, Gita Lallu and Suman Chhimka were arrested from the bus stand after they brought the liquor from Dumas. A case has been registered against them under sections 65, 66 and 81 of the Prohibition Act.
Fatal fall
One Laxman Salve, a manual labourer employed at Larsen and Toubro and residing at Mora village on the outskirts of the city died after falling off from a slab on Monday afternoon, the Ichhapore police stated. Salve was applying tar at a height of about 30 feet when he lost balance and fell, and succumbed to head injuries. The body was handed over to the bereaved family after a post mortem, the police stated. A case of accidental death under CrPC 174 has been registered at the Ichhapore police station.
Kidnapped
One Naresh Ravji Patel, a businessman, was kidnapped by three people on Sunday, a case registered in the police station said. Varsha Patel, the wife of the victim, told the Varachha police that the three accused, whom she named as Vijay Patel, Ashok Patel and Chandrakant Patel, forcibly took away her husband and kept him at some place after he failed to return Rs 23,000 which he owed them.
