Man dead
One Vinodbhai Gamit, a resident of Gadat village in Vyara, died after he was knocked down by a truck on Tuesday night, the Vyara police said. According to information, the victim was hit by a unknown vehicle, whose driver escaped from the spot immediately after the accident. The Vyara police have registered a case under section 304a of the IPC and are investigating further.

Brawl
A group of about 15 people, armed with pipes, hockey sticks and other weapons attacked a person residing in Kapodara area late on Tuesday night, the police said. Sunil Chandrakant Gandhi, a resident of Bungalow no 5 in Dimple Society, Kapodra told the police on Wednesday that around midnight, about 15 people, four of whom he named as Nilesh, Ajay, Anand and Devaa, came over and bashed him up. He also stated that the accused also broke the window panes of the houses of Navinbhai and Dr Murthy before escaping. No arrests have been made although a case under IPC 143, 147, 148 and 504a has been registered.

Arrested
One Ramesh Manga Maaru alias Dabbu, a resident of Relraahat Colony, Gotalawadi has been arrested by the police in a murder case that took place a fortnight ago, the Katargam police said. Dabbu has been arrested in connection with the murder of notorious bootlegger Gordhan Manga Sosa in Gotalawadi area earlier. Ramesh will be produced before a magistrate on Thursday.

Vehicles stolen
One Dinesh Virji Patel, a resident of Vallabhnagar Society of Varachha told the police in a complaint that his motorcycle FJ 5 AC 2684 was stolen from near Kanhaiya Shopping centre in the area. In another complaint, Subhash Patil residing near A K Road Bus stand told the police that his scooter GJ 5 BB 5565 was stolen from opposite his house where it was parked. The complainant added that a cash of Rs 30,000 had also been kept in his scooter.
