
Girl dies, father injured
A young girl died late on Sunday night, while her father received serious injuries when the three-wheeler tempo he was driving overturned on Udhna Navsari Road. Ameena Bano, 10, breathed her last at the city8217;s Mahavir Hospital. Mohammed Ghulam Yusuf Kapadia was riding his tempo GRV 6803 on the Udhna-Navsari Road when a cyclist crossed the road. In a bid to avoid hitting the cyclist, the tempo overturned, causing injuries to Kapadia and Ameena. Ameena died while being treated, the police said. Kapadia has been booked under sections of the IPC and MVA.
Two missing
Two persons have been reported missing from the Ved Road and Gopipura areas of the city, cases registered on Monday at Katargam and Athwalines police stations said. Kirit Chhota Patel, a resident of Prannath Society, Ved Road, informed the police on Monday that Amita Nehal Patel 21 is missing since Sunday evening. A resident of Vasad in Kheda taluka of Anand district, Amita had come to visit Kirit Patel a few days ago. Last seen, the woman was wearing a maroon-coloured skirt and a pink jersey. The complainant added that the woman had a two tola chain, gold bangles and left the house at around 6 pm without informing anyone. In another case registered at the Athwalines police station, 26-year old Suresh Popat Patel is missing since Saturday evening. Patel, a resident of Madaniawaad in Gopipura, informed family members on Saturday evening that he would return in a few hours, but has not come back.
Man dead
An unidentified man resembling a beggar died within an hour of being admitted to the New Civil Hospital on Monday morning, after he was found on the City Light Road. A case registered under CrPC 174 in the Udhna police station said that residents of the area informed the police at around 9 am that a person, aged around mid-30s, was lying unconscious beside Blue Compound on Parle Point-City Light Road. He was shifted the hospital, where he died at around 9.45.
