50-yr-old man beaten to death
A 50-year-old man was beaten to death by two persons on Sunday night at around 11.30 in the Kavinagar industrial area of Ghaziabad. According to the police, the assailants came to the Navdurga Ice Factory and picked a fight with Vijaypal. The two miscreants, one identified as an employee of the factory, Arjun, beat up Vijaypal with iron rods. After receiving some blows on the head, Vijaypal collapsed and was declared dead when taken to the nearby hospital.

7 nabbed while planning dacoity
East district police claim to have arrested seven persons who were planning to commit a dacoity in gas agency in the area on Sunday night. Saleem, Yusuf, Shakeel, Jai Prakash, Abdul Salam, Ashok and Pratap, were nabbed from a vacant flat in Mayur Vihar while they were planning the dacoity. On interrogation, the group was found to be involved in dacoities in Jaipur, Gorakhpur, Mathura, Kurukshetra and Samaipur Badli.

2 arrested for prostitution
The social defence wing of the crime branch has arrested two girls, Kalpana (25) and Surender (28), from outside a cinema hall under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act. A decoy rang up Kalpana and fixed an appointment for his friend and himself in a five-star hotel. Kalpana agreed to come with her friend opposite Rachna Cinema and demanded Rs 4,000 each. The decoy told her that they would pay Rs 3,000 in advance and Rs 5,000 later. As Surender and Kalpana arrived and were given Rs 3,000, they were arrested by the police.
