TSR driver `drugs, robs’ passenger
A TSR driver and his associate reportedly drugged a passenger after offering him a soft drink laced with a sleeping drug and then stole his suitcase. The incident occurred on June 26. The victim T.N. Kaul had boarded the TSR from New Delhi Railway Station on the night of June 23. Another person, known to the driver also sat with him in the TSR and three of them set out for Paschim Vihar, T.N. Kaul’s destination.
On the way, in the Anand Parbat area, the man posing as a passenger asked the driver to stop near a soft drink stand for a glass of fruit juice. According to the police, the driver brought three glasses of juice and gave the one laced with an intoxicant to Kaul.
When Kaul fell unconscious, the duo dropped him off near the DVB office and escaped with a suitcase containing his clothes, wrist watch, gold ring and Rs 200 in cash.
The victim regained consciousness and somehow managed to reach his destination. He approached the police yesterday with the complaint.
Three arrested for robberyThree men were arrested on Saturday night for allegedly robbing a man of his money, a gold chain and wristwatch near the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. The victim, Satender Kumar of Kabir Nagar, approached the PCR staff and reported that he had been robbed by three men who had escaped in the direction of the mental hospital. The police followed his lead and managed to apprehend Shital Sharma, 18, Kamal Singh, 20 and Riyazuddin, 33. The stolen goods have been recovered. They were handed over to Seemapuri Police.
DTC driver stabbed in Janakpuri
The driver of a DTC bus was reportedly stabbed by two passengers in Janakpuri on Sunday night. The conductor of the bus, Naresh, had a quarrel with two passengers minutes after the bus left the Uttam Nagar Terminal.
When the driver of the bus intervened, he was stabbed by the two passengers in the chest, back and shoulder. They two fled the spot after the stabbing. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder.
Man held under Copyright Act
A team of the Crime Branch arrested a person and seized over 80,000 infringed inlay cards of various Hindi movie titles and 16 metallic sheets during the course of a raid on a printing press in Vivek Vihar. The police had received a complaint from Ravi Kishore, Marketing Executive, Super Cassettes Industries, about the presence of inlay cards at the press. During the course of the interrogation, Raj Kumar, the owner of the press disclosed that he used to print and supply the desired quantity of cards on demand against cash payment and used to clear the material from the press immediately to avoid detection. He allegedly told the police that the consignment was to be delivered to Prithvi Singh alias Kallu.
Woman commits suicide.
A 26-year-old woman, Kamla, allegedly killed herself after setting herself afire in her Uttam Nagar house on Friday afternoon. She suffered 100 per cent burns and died on the spot. The police said that the incident was reported around 4 p.m. when some residents noticed smoke coming out of the house. Investigations have revealed that Kamla was alone in the house, when she doused herself with kerosene and set herself afire. The police have not recovered a suicide note so far. They are trying to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
In another incident, Chandra, 19, reportedly attempted suicide in Najafgarh by setting herself afire on Friday afternoon. The police said that Chandra, who was married only four months ago, was alone in the house. Her husband was away at work. Neighbours reported the incident to the police. Chandra has been admitted to Sadarjung Hospital with 100 per cent burns.
2 held for abusing MCD employees.
Two men were arrested when they reportedly abused two MCD safai karamcharis in Khayala village in west Delhi on Friday. MCD junior engineer Ishwar Singh Chahal was supervising the cleaning of the drains at Choukandi More in Khayala when two men passing by in their jeep reportedly abused two karamcharis.
After cleaning the drains, the karamcharis had kept the filth on the roadside which they were supposed to carry away after work. Both Sohan Lal and Sanjeev Kumar started shouting at the MCD team when they saw the filth blocking the passage.
In spite of the MCD engineer explaining the situation, the duo reportedly called the MCD karamcharis “filthy people with no sense”. The MCD employees registered a complaint at the Khayala police station under the SC/ST Atrocity Prevention Act. The accused have been remanded to 15-day judicial custody.
Telephone exch. employee stabbed
44-year-old chaman Singh, a resident of Janta flats, GTB Enclave, was reportedly stabbed Friday night. Singh was an employee of the telephone exchange at Janpath. Three persons sitting nearby reportedly passed insulting remarks against him. Chaman Singh confronted them and an argument ensued. One of them took out a knife and stabbed him. The three fled the spot.
