CPM leader threatens Express editor

The resident editor of Indian Express, Thiruvananthapuram, N. Madhavan Kutty, on Saturday got a call from CPM Politburo member V.S. Achuthanandan, warning him to stop ‘‘running reports against me and my office’’. ‘‘Otherwise,’’ Achuthanandan threatened Kutty, ‘‘I have other remedies.’’

The Opposition leader claimed that stories taken by the paper recently on internal politics of the party were published without verification from his side.

He alleged that the paper was being used by some people but threatened that it was Kutty who would ‘‘suffer’’ on account of it.
