MUMBAI, JUNE 26: Metropolitan Magistrate U S Mendotre of the 44th court, Bandra, today issued summons to actress Madhuri Dixit, her mother Snehalata Dixit and painter M F Husain in connection with a complaint filed by Snehalata8217;s landlord in May, 1998.

In his complaint, Indulal Shantilal Shah, the owner of Sukh Shanti building in Vile Parle, alleged that his tenant, Madhuri8217;s 60-year-old mother, had flouted the tenancy agreement by demolishing the walls of her two-room-kitchen flat. She has alleged that the flat was converted into a hall in 1996 to accommodate Husain8217;s art gallery-cum-office.

According to Shah8217;s advocate, Jawahar Thakkar, today8217;s summons were issued for offences of 8220;mischief, criminal trespass, drawing and exhibition of nude pictures, criminal conspiracy and abetment under section 292, 427, 447, 107 and 102b of the Indian Penal Code.8221;

An eviction suit filed against Madhuri Dixit8217;s mother and Husain by the landlord too came up for hearing in the Small Causes Court, Bandra today andwas adjourned to July 3. It was learnt that the Dixits were out of town and would return only on June 30.

Dixit had entered into a tenancy agreement with Shah on February 28, 1994. However, Shah has alleged that her flat in Sukh Shanti building, Juhu Vile Parle Development Scheme, was never used for the purpose it was let out for and that Dixit was liable for eviction under Section 13 1 a and 131 b of Bombay Rent Act.
