PUNE, Aug 12: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sharad Pawar today said the “countdown” seems to have begun for the BJP-led government at the Centre and it may now go any time because of trouble between the coalition partners.

“Tomorrow is the D-day and we are anxiously watching what will happen,” he said in an obvious reference to the meeting convened by the AIADMK leader Jayalalitha tomorrow of her allies to decide whether they should continue to support the government.

“The BJP-led government was given enough chance to rule the country but they failed,” he said while speaking at a meet the students programme, organised by the students of the department of communication and journalism, Pune University.

“We will be watching what alternatives emerge and what preconditions will be set by other parties and accordingly decide our course of action,” Pawar said.

He said he continues to hold the opinion that instability was not good for the nation and it was the common man who was paying theprice for the it. Hence the Congress was not keen on creating instability.

“But if nobody is able to run the government, then the Congress will not think twice to step in,” Pawar said.

Replying to a query, he said there was no clash of interest between him and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
