Corporator assaults security guard

MUMBAI, September 23: Close on the heels of the violent incidents in which the former deputy mayor and a sitting independent corporator bashed up senior civic officers recently, a security guard was beaten up by an independent corporator in the Thane Municipal Corporation today.

Later the municipal security guards met the commissioner and submitted a complaint.

Independent corporator Mahadip Munna Bist was bringing his car into the corporation premises when the security guard on duty Ramchandra D Jadhav stopped the vehicle. An annoyed Munna and his supporters tore up Jadhav8217;s clothes and beat him.

The civic administration had curbed entry of vehicles into the compound after unknown persons had ransacked a cabin and stole documents. The ban allowed only official vehicles of the corporation. Press vehicles too were not allowed entry. Last week former deputy mayor Sitaram Bhoir Sena had manhandled Kalwa-Mumbra DMC S R Sarmokadam. In an earlier incident an independent corporator Rajan Kini abused and threatened Sarmokadam who was leading a demolition squad against unauthorised constructions.
