February 9: Five Deputy Commissioners of Police have been transferred from the city with immediate effect this evening, following a special directive from the Election Commission in view of the forthcoming general elections. Said sources, CCP R T Rathod of zone VII has been transferred as Superintendent of Police CID crime Pune, R S Bachewar Airport zone as commandant Gr VI Dhule, Madhu Shinde zone V as principal RPTS Nagpur, P B Gavandi Port zone as comdt Gr VII Daund and V L Ingle DCP SB 1 as principal DTS Nashik. The officers to come in their place are: R M Kedari comdt Gr VII Daund, A D Shinde comdt SRPF Gr V Daund, S S Kemkar Dy Director DTS and KR Shelar. Others also transferred are R N Dahate comdt III Jalna to DCP Nagpur and S B Sawarkar DCP Nagpur, who takes over as DCP Kalyan-Thane.The officers have been posted in Mumbai for more than four years. The government has ordered the officers to hand over their charges in consultation with POLCOMS add DGC crime and special IGP at once andproceed to their new posts. Meanwhile, in a separate order by the state government, Y C Pawar, who was posted at Nashik, will now take charge as Additional Commissioner of Police crime, replacing S P S Yadav, who takes over the traffic department from Hasan Gaffor.
