The investigations into the car scam unearthed by the Hadapsar police has rattled the police department, as it has been revealed that as many as 25 policemen were cheated by the conman Mujahid Gilani (28), the kingpin of the scam.Police inspector Devidas Patil said majority of these cops are attached to the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) in Hadapsar. “There is no one from Pune police as of now,” he added.“Some of the policemen who were cheated in the scam had rented out their four-wheelers to Harsha Enterprises run by Gilani. They thought he would give them good returns by signing up their vehicles with the IT and BPO companies. But Gilani sold these vehicles without their knowledge. Some policemen had purchased the vehicles that Gilani had taken on rent from others,” said Patil.
