Cops make a U-turn, say evidence lacking

Though the FIR puts Vijay Dhawan firmly in the dock, Special Cell on Monday changed track moving an application before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini for seeking the discharge of Dhawan in the fresh case citing 8220;lack of evidence8221; against him.

Police say that one of the accused, Navneet Sharma, has failed during a second round of questioning to say that he knew Dhawan.

8220;Initially, as per the FIR, Sharma told us that Dhawan introduced him to Kuldeep to prepare forged letters of authority to tap the phone.

Sharma, however, faltered during a second round of questioning when he was made to repeat his allegations against Dhawan in the latter8217;s presence, police said.
