CHANDIGARH, April 11: The Chandigarh Police have debarred the policemen from taking their personal weapons along with them, while they are on leave.

The order follows an incident, involving former Assistant Sub-Inspector Ajinder Singh, who was terminated a few days ago after he allegedly shot at and injured a person at a wedding function near Anandpur Sahib, with his service revolver.

According to official sources, during the days of militancy, the policemen were allowed to carry their weapons, particularly if they were going on casual leave. However, now they wil even submit their vehicles in the malkhana.
