
Mumbai, Jun14: Mumbai police have been instructed to maintain a high-level alert following the recovery of a crude bomb from Dockyard railway station on Sunday evening.
Minister of State for Home Ramdas Kadam today called a meeting of Mumbai police8217;s top brass and briefed them about the Inter-Services Intelligence8217;s ISI operations in the city. The Minister and Mumbai police have reportedly received some Intelligence Bureau IB alerts about infiltration of ISI operatives in Mumbai.
Along with police commissioner R H Mendonca, Kadam met D Sivanandhan, joint commissioner of police, crime, and additional commissioners of police Y C Pawar, Rakesh Maria, Arup Patnaik and K L Prasad. A strategy to check any ISI mischief was chalked out in the three-hour-long meeting, sources said.
In the wake of recent developments in Kargil, police suspect that some ISI agents have sneaked into the city. The arrests of ISI agents from Gujarat and Rajasthan have given reason for extra caution, they said.
The additionalcommissioners of police have, in turn, now instructed the 74 police stations in their respective regions to maintain alert. Apart from this, other precautionary measures, including combing operations in sensitive pockets, surprise patrolling and nakabandis are being taken.
