Convicted for rash driving

CHANDIGARH, March 30: UT Judicial Magistrate Ist Class Vani Gopal Sharma today convicted a city resident Ghanshyam under Section 279 of the IPC rash driving and released him on probation for six months after he furnished a bond of Rs 10,000 along with one surety of like amount.

The accused was booked on September 29, 1995, under Sections 279 and 304 A of the IPC. In a complaint against him it was alleged that he was driving a truck near Dadumajra barrier in a rash and negligent manner and hit a cyclist, who later died.

The accused was, however, acquitted today under Section 304 A of IPC as the prosecution was not able to prove the charge under this Section.
