NEW DELHI, SEPT 22: The Central Board of Excise and Customs has liberalised provisions relating to sub-contracting in respect of 100 per cent EOUs, EPZs and EHTPs. These units can now give sub-contracts to units in domestic tariff area DTA and also accept job work from the DTA units.

All the three types of export promotion units will be allowed to get a part of their production completed either from DTA units or from other EOU/EPZ/EHTP units. The caveat being that the raw material for the manufacture of such goods, whether imported or indigenous will first reach the export units and be accounted for in the statutory records of the units.

Subsequently, these raw materials can be sent to the job worker for production of the final products. Final products manufactured from such raw materials will have to be brought back from the job worker premises to the unit for accounting. The units will have to ensure that the wastage generated during the said job work is also brought back from the job workers8217;premises.

To enable EOUs/EPZs/EHTPs to utilise idle capacity the CBEC has decided that export units in textile, ready-made garments, agro-processing and granite sectors will be allowed to undertake job work from DTA units provided the finished products produced by such export units will be exported directly from these units and they will not be sent back to the DTA.
