Construction on Chandimandir flyover begins

Even as work on the four-laning of the Zirakpur-Parwanoo highway is in full swing, the construction of the Chandimandir flyover has begun.

To be constructed by the National Highway Authority of India NHAI, the flyover is part of the bigger project of four-laning of Zirakpur-Parwanoo highway to be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 324 crore. This is one of the two flyovers proposed for the four laning project with the other one to come up at the heavily congested Majri Chowk in old Panchkula.

8220;It was after the land was handed over to us by the Army in November that work for the construction of the Chandimandir flyover began recently. The flyover is proposed to be completed in 30 months8217; time,8221; said an official with the JP Associates, the company implementing the Zirakpur-Parwanoo four-laning project on behalf of the NHAI.

The flyover will come up at the Malikpur Traffic Check Post point on the Panchkula-Kalka highway near the Chandimandir cantonment area. The flyover would have the Malikpur Traffic Check Post TCP point as the apex point starting from the Majri Chowk in Old Panchkula.

8220;We have informed the Army about the shifting of electric poles and lines at the place and have been assured that it would be done within 15 days,8221; added an official with the JP Associates.
