SOLAN, July 28: Chairman of the local municipal council Rajeev Bindal has accused six Congress councillors including vice-chairman of the council of shielding certain individuals carrying out unauthorised and unplanned constructions in the town.Rajeev Bindal along with Jangi Lal and Meera Anand, councillors while addressing a press conference here last evening, refuted the charges levelled by Congress councillors and termed them baseless, mischievous and concocted.He produced documentary evidence in support of the unanimous decisions taken by the House in which all Congress councillors were also present. He charged the Congress councillors with not supporting the legitimate cause of the municipal committee before the previous Congress government of Virbhadra Singh which resulted in the annual loss of Rs 50 lakh in lieu of octri. He said that council had spent Rs 30 lakh on various developmental works in the town during the last three months. He claimed that out of this the maximum amount had been spent in the wards of Congress councillors. The committee had purchased 22 new dumpers and one placer in order to ensure cleanliness in the town.
