A day after Swami Ramdev and the saffron brotherhood upped the ante on the Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur issue, going to the extent of demanding a 8220;regime change8221; when the country faces parliamentary elections, the BJP on Monday said the Congress 8220;was directing and misusing the ATS probe for its selfish political benefit8221;.
8220;The Congress is speaking more than the ATS. How else does one explain the selective leaks,8221; said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar at a press conference.
The BJP spokesperson claimed that the Congress-led Government had 8220;forced the ATS to close down inquiry into the serial train blasts in Mumbai on the request of some leaders who felt the sentiments of one particular religious community would be hurt.8221;
8220;The state Government never allowed the ATS to conduct any scientific tests like narco-analysis, polygraph tests on any of the suspects in that instance,8221; said Javadekar. 8220;The 2006 Malegaon blast case was handed over to the CBI only for political benefits,8221; he added. 8220;The Congress must realise that terror incidents can be solved not through propaganda but only through hard evidence and non-politicised probes.8221;
Repeating that the expression 8220;Hindu terrorism8221; must not be used, the party spokesperson added that the ATS was not at fault and should continue to be entrusted with the probe.
