NEW DELHI, JUNE 24: Facing stiff opposition from former chief minister Bhajan Lal to moves to rescue the Bansi Lal Government in Haryana Assembly on Friday, the Congress will take a decision on the issue shortly before the vote of confidence.
As the party despatched secretary Anil Shastri as an observer to Chandigarh ahead of the Assembly vote, Bhajan Lal met party president Sonia Gandhi today to express his opposition to unconditional bailing out of the Haryana Vikas Party government in the name of keeping out BJP-INLD government.
Congress general secretary Pranab Mukherjee admitted at the daily briefing that there was a problem for the party to support Bansi Lal as it was opposing the HVP government tooth and nail for the past three years.
But the party was also trying to prevent any advantage to the BJP-Chautala combine and keep it out of power, he added.
