CHANDIGARH, Oct 5: The UT Administration has relaxed the condition of refresher courses under the career advancement scheme for college lecturers. This was informed here by Dr Jagwant Singh, president of the Chandigarh District Council of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers8217; Union, in a press release today. The college lecturers will now be eligible to move to the senior/selection grade on the condition that they fulfil the requirement by December 31, 2000, added the release.

Micro-electronics course starts at PU
The micro-electronics M.Tech course was inaugurated on the campus by Dr M.J. Zarabi, Chairman and Managing Director, SCL, Mohali, in the University Science Instrumentation Centre, here today. The first floor of the RSIC building was also inaugurated by him.

Entrance to UBS through CAT
Students seeking admission to University Business School UBS of the varsity will now have to take the Combined Admission Test CAT, conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management. An official press statement released here said the handbook of information, including forms for admission to UBS, will be available up to November 30 by post and up to December 10 at the cashier8217;s counter. The last date for the submission of the same is December 10.

PU officials on AIDS awareness panel
Dr Sanjeev Tewari, PU Director Public Relations, and Dr C.L. Narang, PU Director NSS, have been nominated as members to a Coordination Committee which will make people aware about the ill-effects and prevention of AIDS. They have been nominated by Chandigarh State AIDS Prevention and Control Society.
