NEW DELHI, OCT 24: Two days after his cousin Trilok Singh was roughed up near his residence in Tilak Nagar, Amrik Singh received threatening calls on Monday night, asking the family to withdraw their affidavit from the Nanavati Commission. In the complaint filed at the Tilak Nagar police station, Amrik has stated that the unknown caller threatened him with dire consequences if the family did not withdraw the affidavit asking the government to take back Joint Commissioner Amod Kanth8217;s gallantry award.

quot;The first call came at around 9.45 pm,quot; Amrik says. quot;I picked up the phone and the voice on the other end said that I should make sure that the case was not pursued. He then went on to threaten me. The second call came at around 11 pm and this time my mother answered the phone. The message was the same.quot;

Amrik filed a complaint with the Tilak Nagar police station on Monday, asking for protection for the whole family. A similar complaint was filed at the same police station by Trilok Singh two days back. In his complaint, Trilok has stated that he was roughed up and threatened by three unidentified men near his residence on the night of October 21.

Giving details of the incident, Singh has told the police that he was on his way home after making a phone call when he was waylaid by three men. He added that the men slapped him and kept saying that he was the man who had shot at policemen during the riots and killed an Army personnel.

In the wake of the two incidents, the beat constable in the area has been instructed to quot;keep an eyequot; on the two houses. Deputy Commissioner of Police West Zone Kewal Singh says: quot;On the face of it these complaints look like a prelude to the formation of the new Nanavati Commission. The local police station is looking into the complaints. Since in both cases, the caller and are unidentified, there is not much we can do about it. However, the police station has been told to keep an eye on developments in the area. Also, the beat constable and a motorcycle patrol will do frequent rounds of the neighbourhood in which the two brothers live.quot;

Meanwhile, The Sikh Forum has asked the Home Minister to constitute an inquiry committee to quot;investigate how the Gallantry Award was awarded to Amod Kanth and SHO now ACP of Paharganj police station S S Manan.quot;
