PUNE, June 1: Club of Maharashtra A8217; staged a thrilling comeback to upstage Sharda Centre C8217; 3-2 in the PDTTA organised Inter-Club Table Tennis tournaments at Deccan Gymkhana today.

CoM began on a losing note with D Bapat going down to N Joshi, but were back on track with A Bokil and P Chitale winning their ties against A Shendarkar and Rahul Joshi. However, Bokil failed to keep up his good work as he went down to N Joshi 19-21, 22-20, 17-21 to square the rubber at two games apiece.In the decider, Bapat who began CoM8217;s campaign with a loss turned tables and came good when it mattered most to blank A Shendarkar who lost his second consecutive encounter 21-15, 21-12.

Overall, Deccan Gymkhana teams had a field day with their A8217;, C8217;, D8217; and E8217; teams posting identical 3-0 wins over their opponents.

A total of 21 teams are in fray in the eight-day tournament which is being played at four centers 8212; Deccan Gymkhana, Sharda Centre, Symbiosis Spa and Club of Maharashtra. The tourney following a league-cum-knock-out basis is a prelude to the season proper and helps players get in touch for the open tournaments to follow.

A total of 95 players constituting 21 teams are taking part in the meet.
