
KOLHAPUR, Dec 9: Mumbai Hockey Associations8217; Colts XI will take on Karnataka Postal Board, Bangalore in the summit clash of the 19th Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar all-India hockey tournament on Thursday.
At the Sahu Stadium today, KBA, Bangalore defeated Central Railway 6-4 in the first semi-final. Later, in the all Mumbai second semi-final Claes Ferreira scored the goal of the tournament to help MHA Colts XI pip Mumbai Port Trust MPT 1-0.
The colts found themselves in dire straits after 19 minutes of play when MPT8217;s Mumtaz Ahmed found the target off the very first penalty-corner. However, with just three minutes for the breather Colts drew even when Claes converted a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute.
Changing ends, Claes scored the match-winner in style. In the 53rd minute Manoj Lokhande did well to flicked the ball to Claes who in one motion pushed home.
Earlier, Edwin Moti gave Central Railway the lead in the 24th minute which was neutralised by Purshottam in the 45th minute off a penalty-corner.
Tharanath put KPB in the lead with a strike in the 68th minute, but they failed to hold on as Rakesh Poditti netted for the railwaymen, pushing the game to tie-breaker.
In the tie breaker, KPB netted via Tharanath, Joseph, Uttappa, Anand, while Rakesh and Amin Mohd scored for Central.
