The wise men had predicted that things would be turned on its head in Kalyug. While they meant it metaphorically, here is a literal and visual exhibition of that. See the picture above which shows Ravan with nine heads. The ten pates of the legendary king of Lanka were a symbol of the immense wisdom he possessed, but it looks like that the Ravan of Kalyug is one head less wiser than Ravan of yore!

Anything for you Mam!

The better half of one of the Deputy Inspector General of Punjab was recently 8216;accosted8217; by a traffic policeman for violation of a rule. The cop on duty showed amazing alacrity in issuing a challan to the lady who was on the wheel of her personal Maruti Zen. It was when the receipt was handed to the lady that she revealed her identity. The cop was mortified but couldn8217;t do much about it because the receipt had already been issued. So, he took the receipt back along with the licence, went and deposited the 8216;fine8217; himself and then personally delivered the licence back at madam8217;s home. Bravo!

Traffic awareness drive

The traffic cops do not reserve their congeniality only for the wives of the top shots. Consider the case of a violator who was caught while talking on a mobile phone. The only relevant documents which he was able to produce were the challan chits of previous violations, which happened to be for the same offence i.e. talking on phone while driving. Our concerned constable advised the repeated offender to buy a handsfree phone set. He also gave the shop address from where the driver could buy it at a reasonable price. Thanks Mr Cop but isn8217;t talking even on hand-free phone while driving unlawful too ?

Prince of Kolkata versus Prince of Chandigarh

Sourav Ganguly8217;s announcement to retire from Test cricket after the ongoing India- Australia series has fuelled hopes of the city residents that Chandigarh8217;s lad Yuvraj Singh could be the heir to Ganguly8217;s spot in the Test team. Unfortunately, this looks highly improbable as of now. While no one doubts Yuvraj8217;s talent but his records in Test cricket are hardly encouraging. In fact, he has been criticised for not making the most of the chances that have come his way. With the likes of Rohit Sharma and Badrinath also staking promising claims to Ganguly8217;s place, the Prince Yuvraj of Chandigarh will have to work extremely hard to replace the Prince of Kolkata.

Friends forever

The bonhomie between the new Home Secretary and the Finance Secretary is too conspicuous to be missed. The pictures of the two hugging each other like long lost friends were splashed across the papers the day the Home Secretary joined. During a recent book release also the two behaved in a similar manner with the HS specially inviting FS to join the function and declaring that the two would do everything together. Here8217;s hoping that the bond lasts forever!

The name still rings a bell!

The former DPIS S K Setia has left his impressions in the Education department in such a way that even after so many days of his discharge, the school principals are still receiving the orders under his name detailing their duties for his innovative plans. Thanks to the inexhaustible proposals mooted by him during his tenure.

Show me the money!

Haryana Chief Minister8217;s announcement that his state would be the first to implement the provisions of the Sixth Pay Commission, gladdened the hearts of state government employees. They started conjuring images of higher salaries and what they planned to do with it. Their hopes that the announcement was likely to made in the festive season has now received set back with the state government not making any formal announcement to this effect. The employees are wondering if they will actually get to see the promised monies or not.
