Clarify your statement on polls: Chouhan asks Cong

Madhya Pradesh CM sought Cong's clarification on what it meant by saying that it would win Nov 27 polls in the state under 'any circumstances'.

.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday sought the Opposition Congress8217;s clarification on what it meant by saying that it would win the November 27 Assembly polls in the state under 8220;any circumstances8221;.

8220;The Congress statement in this regard leads to suspicion that the party was planning to create disturbances in a big way or do something to affect the poll process on the day of voting,8221; Chouhan told a press conference on Friday at the Madhya Pradesh BJP headquarters.

He said the Congress may be talking in this manner as the party knew it had lost popular support and was not behaving like a responsible political party.

Chouhan said he was confident that the people of Madhya Pradesh would once again vote the BJP to power on the basis of development carried out in the last five years.

To a question, he said that voters of Madhya Pradesh were mainly polarised between BJP and Congress and hence other political parties would not have much effect on the elections.

He parried questions on Bharatiya Janashakti leader Uma Bharti and Govindacharya by saying that the BJP did not talk about other people but worked only on the basis of its ideology.

Chouhan said that even Muslims were appreciating the good work done by the BJP and hence they may vote for it in the elections.

On being asked why the BJP had not given even a single ticket to any Muslim for the assembly elections, he said that this alone could not be the factor in deciding on Muslim support for his party.

The Chief Minister said that during his election tours, he saw the BJP getting tremendous support from all sections of the society.

Chouhan said Madhya Pradesh would not have remained backward, had the Congress, during its 50-year rule, used the state8217;s resources for its development.

He reiterated that the development in the state done by the BJP in the last five years was much more than that by the Congress during its 50-year rule.

On the Congress manifesto for the assembly polls, he said it contained more popular promises as compared to the BJP manifesto.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress appeared to be waiting for the BJP manifesto and after it came, made announcements bigger than the BJP.

The Congress, he said, had no thinking of its own and its manifesto showed that party had no thought for Madhya Pradesh.
