CALCUTTA, APRIL 6: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) came from behind to defeat Western Railway 2-1 and move into the pre-quarter finals of the 104th Beighton Cup Hockey Tournament here today.

Western Railway shot into the lead as early as the 12th minute of the contest when forward Santa Kumar scored a field goal but CISF restored parity in the 31st minute with Ravi Kumar sounding the board, capitalising on a defensive lapse.

With the score levelled 1-1, both the teams played their hearts out but CISF sealed the fate of their opponents in the 62nd minute when the hard-working GV Xaxa struck a field goal.

CISF could have won by a bigger margin had Xaxa not missed a penalty stroke in the 48th minute thanks to a brilliant save by Western Railway goalkeeper Sanjay Rathi.

In another match at the CCFC ground, Sikh Regimental Centre (SRC) defeated strong contenders Bengal Nagpur Railways (BNR) to move into the pre-quarter finals.
