VADODARA, May 25: Chairman and Chief Executive, Heavy Water Board, Mumbai, H S Kamath inaugurated the first Contributory Health Services Scheme CHSS dispensary for employees of Heavy Water Plant, Vadodara here in Nizampura on Tuesday.

Dr B J Shanker, head of the medicine department, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Hospital, Mumbai was the chief guest on the occasion, while several senior board and plant officials were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Kamath said the dispensary would render health services to all Vadodara-based about 500 employees and their family members. Local production manager D P Singh, general manager S M Jain, deputy GM V Venkatesan also spoke on the occasion.

However, the inaugural function was marred by a demonstration by a delegation of HWP Residents8217; Welfare Association, who were protesting against the management8217;s decision of not opening a dispensary in Danteshwar where a large number of employees reside.

In a memorandum submitted to Kamath, they pointed out that the Nizampura dispensary was too far for residents of Danteshwar. They said all Danteshwar residents had decided to boycott the inauguration as their demand had been ignored.
