The finance ministry is set to review the compliance of nine ministries with the system of cash management introduced in Budget 2002. The nine ministries chosen for the purpose are those that have been identified as high spenders and include ministries like food, fertilisers, health and HRD.
A high-level committee set up for the purpose is expected to submit its report by the end of the month, official sources said. Efficient cash managament helps to minimise the gap between receipts and expenditure.
