CHENNAI, SEPT 1: Seeded players in the girls under-14 section, led by top two seeds, Sania Mirza AP and Isha Lakhani Mah, moved into the last eight of the Nutrine National Sub-Junior Hard Court Tennis Championship here today.

Sania Mirza crushed Maharasthra8217;s Anuja Parekh 6-0 6-2, while left-handed Isha Lakhani, also of Maharashtra defeated Neha Singh of Chandigarh 6-3 6-3.

In boys under-16 section first round matches, seventh and eighth seeds Chatwinder Singh of Chandigarh and C Tejeshwar of Karnataka were knocked out by West Bengal players. Singh lost 4-6 7-5 0-6 to Dhruv Kumar while Tejeswhar was ousted 6-1 6-7 2-7 0-6 by Arka Mandal.

Second seed Ammanjot Singh Chandigarh overcame Dhananjay Kawade Maharashtra 7-6 5 6-7 5 6-1 after a three-hour struggle while top seed CS Mohanty Delhi quelled the challenge of P Chaturvedi Delhi 6-4 6-3.

Top seed in the boys singles under-14, Vikrant Sane of Maharashtra, had an easy passage into the second round when his opponent G Arjun Karnataka conceded the match after losing the first set 4-6.
