Keshubhai begins fire fighting
Four days after the latest wave of attacks against churches and Christian missionary-run schools in the state, the Keshubhai Patel government today came under pressure to act even as a chapel came under attack in Surat district of Gujarat and the state government claimed that normalcy has been restored in Ahwa town and nearby village in Dangs district where churches and Christian institutions were targeted.
ULCRA to be scrapped
The Cabinet today decided to scrap the Urban Land Ceiling and Regulation Act ULCRA of 1976 through an ordinance. Once done, theoretically, this will free up around 2 lakh hectares of land across the country for construction purposes 8211; the exact amount of land that will be freed, of course, will depend on what kind of laws each State government chooses to enact once ULCRA is repealed.
