Akalis to dump BJP on US Nagar
The Shiromani Akali Dal would withdraw its support to the Bhartiya Janata Paty BJP government at the Centre on the issue of transfer of Udham Singh Nagar to the newly created state of Uttranchal, a report says. Replying to questions by newsmen, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said here today, quot;It was but natural for the SAD to withdraw the support on the Udham Singh Nagar issue if the sentiments of the people are not honoured by the Vajpayee government8221;.
PM8217;s rally cancelled
Following the ruling coalition8217;s aborted attempt to impose President8217;s rule in Bihar, the BJP was forced to cancel a rally which was supposed to be addressed today at Ranchi by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, a report from New Delhi said.
