All-party meet opposes crossing of LoC
The all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has unitedly opposed crossing of the Line of Control LoC but disagreed on convening a special session of the Rajya Sabha on the Kargil issue. While the Congress, AIADMK and CPI stuck to their demand for a special session of the Rajya Sabha, former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, the BJP and its allies as well as the Nationalist Congress Party of Sharad Pawar stressed that there was no need for such a session. Those who opposed the suggestion of a special session of the upper house are understood to have been of the opinion that it could be considered only after the intruders were evicted from Indian territory.
