
The Centre on Tuesday said it would seek a CBI inquiry into the multi-crore kidney racket scam unearthed in Gurgaon last week. Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said: 8220;Since it may involve a number of states and places like Mumbai, Noida and Gurgaon, we have decided to request the CBI to undertake a detailed investigation and give a comprehensive report on how widespread the problem is.8221; The decision follows an Interpol red alert in the name of prime suspect Amit Kumar who is feared to have escaped to another country. Ramadoss also said that his ministry was bringing amendments to the Organ Transplantation Act of 1994 and will soon launch a massive awareness drive to educate the people about the issues related to legal organ trade.
