Dharamsala, Jan 31: A high-level Central team headed by a joint secretary of the External Affairs Ministry has arrived here to talk to the 17th Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorjee on the issue of his arrival from Tibet on January five and desire to stay in India.

The joint secretary, Nagarajan, also called on the Tibetan spiritual and temporal head the Dalai Lama and reportedly apprised him of the government8217;s reservations regarding granting asylum to Karmapa as requested recently.

The Centre was yet to satisfy itself regarding Karmapa8217;s flight from Tibet and how he reached India so easily, the sources said.

On its part, China has repeatedly cautioned India that the controversy over the Karmapa8217;s flight and his asylum could affect the Sino-Indian ties .
